In order to thrive in your work environment it is crucial to be able to speak up. This is all about your creativity, freedom, self-expression, confidence and happiness. It is part of our essential needs, the need for love and belonging, achievement and self actualization, among the few. Yet, we choose not to speak up when our sense of security is threatened.
It is OK to feel uncomfortable at times. As long as you are willing and able to work through your discomfort and say what you need to say. Sometimes this may take a lot of courage and effort on your part, but it should pay off in the end. If you consistently feel unheard, unappreciated and sometimes even unsafe to say what’s on your mind, this environment may not be the right fit for you.
Why don’t we always speak up and freely share our opinions and contributions?
There are two main reasons why most of us hold ourselves back:
- You don’t want to upset anyone.
- You don’t think others will listen.
A different reason may ring true for you, but I bet it somehow relates to one of these two. Regardless of your reason, you are likely doing more damage to yourself by being silent than if you were to speak up.
So join us in this profound conversation on July 21st. A place where you can listen, share your thoughts and start your journey to freedom, self-expression and joy in your career and your life.
