What To Do When You Get Laid Off

Find the silver lining in your recent lay off and transform it into a triumph over your career.

Losing a job can be devastating and heartbreaking, even if you were unhappy working there in the first place. You are feeling overwhelmed with lots of emotions, often conflicting with one another. Sometimes you feel angry, resentful, depressed, anxious and even excited and hopeful about what’s next. Other times, you feel relieved and happy, knowing that losing the job you hated anyway was the best thing that happened to you. Yet, even then, unhappy feelings may come up when you start wondering, “why me?”

First of all, regardless of which feelings you are experiencing, this is all normal. There is nothing wrong with you and being laid off doesn’t mean you weren’t good at your job. This can happen to anyone. However, this does mean that you are not meant to be working there anymore.

Now it is time to move on.

Now, here comes the next set of questions. What is next for me? How can I let it go and move on? Where do I even begin?

Most people, after they lose their jobs, will immediately jump into looking for another job. Unfortunately, the next job they find is very similar to the last one with very little improvement when it comes to work environment, growth opportunities, personal satisfaction or compensation. Sometimes people will even accept a pay cut. This happens when your priority is to find a job as soon as possible, rather than trying to figure out what you really want to do.

In this webinar, learn how you can make smart decisions after a lay off so that you can really use this painful experience as an opportunity and make the best out of it.
